What's New

Welcome to the latest version of our web site!

music samples added   with MP3 versions!

Also for your amusement...Here is a link to a re-issue of a 70's rock album that I participated in. (I played electric bass on this album.) But on the Audition page are two songs from that album where I wrote the music and played bass and/or Mellotron on.

PLUS! Here is a link to some my progressive music experiments, and Here is a link to my Smooth Jazz site.

sound effects and dialog movie-DVD-style (Mpeg II) demo reel

industry news, and a glimpse of how HELM has played a role in it

As per our promises of the past, we now offer you choices to audition in a variety of formats.  We offer hi-band Mp3 versions, and we also serve two "play on demand" technologies (Real Audio and Microsoft's new Windows Media (formerly Netshow, this seems to sound better than Real Audio, at least at 56k modem transfer rate).  Check them out here.

Moreover,  if necessary (for lo-band users), you could download to your hard drive (MP3 audio, and/or the movie version of our sound effects movie reel (hey! don't you think sfx are best auditioned in a sound-to-picture format? -- check it out...it's a fun movie...alien battles and that kinda stuff!).  Go there by clicking here.

By the way, about the media...

...music demo #1 on our "audition" page was the same HELM demo that the FATMAN played at CGDC's '98 Game Demo Marathon (on Fatman's CD disk 1).

...music demo #2 is a HELM demo that was included on Fatman's CD disk 2, as part of the GDC '99 Game Demo Marathon process.  It was piece of music I had written earlier for Accolade's basketball game with Charles Barkley, "Shut Up and Jam II".

...music demo #3 is a HELM demo that was taken from a fighting game that I was working on called "Cybernauts", but the game was pulled and never released to market.  So HELM still owns the copyright to it <g>.   The music is one of several that was written in the popular style of 'Electronica'.

...music demo #4 is a HELM demo is a great way to pitch our orchestral style skills, which were produced in a digital audio DAW environment.  (If you are interested in checking out some of are older midi orchestral efforts, try this link).

...sfx demo movie.  Yes, we added a fun movie to watch and listen to.   (Try to focus on our sound effects and dialog work).  This is from a space sim, "Deadlock I" from Accolade (later acquired by North Infogrammes).   Lotsa fun alien wars and stuff.  The lo-band version is a presentation containing a collection of cinematics from the game annexed into one movie.  The first part is the 'movie trailer' which one usually views before the actual game would begin, and the following flicks are 'wingame' scenarios which the user is rewarded with when s/he...er,...wins!  Which wingame scenario a user would be rewarded with would depend on which alien race identity they assumed. The hi-band version is the trailer by itself.

...recent fun.  Well, this music link has nothing to do with gaming, but it is a fun example of some of the personal musical experimentation that I've been involved with recently.
